about

Swedish industrial act The Below has once again collaborated with vocalist Aaron Sutcliffe, also known as Yo-Haan from the electro-pop group S.P.O.C.K, for their new single “Artificial Lights (Dystopian Haze)”. The track delves into the theme of fear and depicts the experience of living in bomb shelters following the brutal Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The use of unconventional instruments, such as scrap metal and other found objects, adds a sharp and rugged quality to the track, evoking the roughness of the war-torn environment that inspired the song. Sutcliffe's vocals contribute an additional layer of emotion and urgency to the track, delivering lyrics that speak to the human cost of war and conflict. This combination creates an intense experience that captures the desperation and anxiety of those forced to live under such conditions.

The beautiful video for the track was shot in Lviv, Ukraine, and directed by Kate Tiuri.

- We didn’t want a video that reveled in the horrors of war; instead, we aimed for a visual representation that symbolises defiance and hope. #StandWithUkraine 💛💙 youtu.be/mL_sqivGxvY
